Quicksand is NOT a Myth...
Australian Outback

So, What is Quicksand?
(Thanks to howstuffworks.com
/ by Kevin Bonsor)
Quicksand is an interesting natural phenomenon -- it is
actually solid ground that has been liquified by a saturation of water. The "quick"
refers to how easily the sand shifts when in this semiliquid state.
Quicksand is not a unique type of soil; it is usually
just sand or another type of grainy soil. Quicksand is nothing more than a soupy
mixture of sand and water.
It
can occur anywhere under the right conditions, according
to Denise Dumouchelle, geologist with the U.S. Geological Survey
(USGS).
Quicksand is created when water saturates an area of loose
sand and the ordinary sand is agitated. When the water trapped in the batch of sand
can't escape, it creates liqified soil that can no longer support weight.
Be careful, and heed warning signs: even entire vehicles
have been totally engulfed by Quicksand!

For Thousands of Years, since the dawn of civilization,
people all over the world have used Sand for many purposes…including “Spa Treatments”
such as in massage
therapy
& as a skin exfoliant, in addition to shaping building
blocks for homes, temples, and other structures.
Sand had a major role
in constructing the great Pyramids & Obelisks (pointed towers -
the Washington monument is a modern replica)…Granite blocks, statues,
columns, and other large things were moved by draining sand from underneath
them, allowing the heavy objects to be moved much easier.
Brilliant engineering created these architectural masterpieces more
so than just sheer manpower.
In the Age of Antiquity, ancient Greeks & Romans
used fine sand to filter water,
just as many H2O purifiers do today!
